
Government guarantees for defense industry
In 2016 the Russian government allocated 141.9 billion rubles as government guarantees for local defense companies. The funds are to be provided within two decrees signed July 21 and August 16 and are intended to ensure implementation of the 2011-2020 defense procurement program.
According to the first document, 14 companies received guarantees for a total amount of 93.6 billion rubles. The major part of it, 30 billion rubles, went to the Sukhoi, a combat jet maker, while the Moscow Institute of Thermotechnics (ballistic missiles) and Zelenodolsk Shipyard (surface ships and special-purpose vessels) were provided with a sum of 11-12 billion rubles each.
9 billion rubles was allocated for the Northern Shipyard; the Raduga State Machine Building Design Bureau (missile weapons), the Amur Shipyard (submarines, surface ships and special-purpose vessels), and the Pella Shipyard in St Petersburg (cutters, tugs, and multipurpose vessels) received correspondingly 7, 5.5 and 5 billion rubles.
